So I’ve done a few interviews on my TiedFeetGuy.com blog, but it’s dawned on me that I’ve never done one here! And it occurred to me that the best possible candidate would be the well known TheSideKink. I actually had the pleasure to work with him personally, after seeing his pics, profiles, and chatting with him on and off for years. It was while I was talking with him that I realized an interview would be a fun thing to try, and he was very up for it! So I hope you certainly enjoy.
1. You have a lot of varied kinky interests. Can you list your favorites?
Well thank you for thinking my kinks are pretty varied. I’ve never actually listed my kinky interests. Looking at the list of fetishes they have on Fetlife I would have to say those kinks I’ve tried and am interested it would be:
Abduction play
Gags, blindfolds and collars
Light CBT
Bondage (including rope, tape, mummification, cuffs and vacuum)
Body worship
Milking and edging
Orgasm control
Public bondage, display
Interrogation
Lycra/spandex
Role play (can get pretty creative but usually along the lines of defeat, abduction and/or imprisonment)
Superheroes
Teasing, taunting
Uniforms
Wrestling
If I were to list my top 5 favorite fetishes out, I think they would be:
– Superheroes – Superheroes occupy a special place in my kinky heart not only because I read a lot of comics as a kid and am a geek, but also because they are versatile in terms of roleplay. Though my favorite aspect of this fetish is the villain dominating the hero, there are multiple avenues for someone to take on. It can incorporate brainwashing, torture, wrestling and bunch of other fun things that it remains on the top of my list. Not to mention superheroes wear some really nice gear in terms of spandex, rubber, latex and leather.
– Bondage – What I love about bondage is the release of control of your body, your pleasure and your physical movement for a brief period of time. Your only job is to feel, it’s kind of meditative that way. Though I’ve been more of a sub I’ve been enjoying the dom role more and more as I age. Whether it is by rope, tape or in sleep sacks, bondage is an opportunity to allow another to either treat your body like an object or to worship it like an idol. There is of course the building of trust that I find much more enticing and much more central than I have ever found in vanilla sex.
– Abduction/KO roleplay – This was one of my first fetishes. What I enjoyed about it was the body contact (particularly in gear) and the struggle between getting knocked out and escaping. This was usually the prelude to a superhero scene or to bondage later on and was a great way for me to get my head into a scene since I don’t take to “orders” very well. I have a rebellious side to me as a sub and sometimes “KO” is the only way I cooperate when being bound. There are still plenty of scenes I would like to try so it remains on the top of my list.
– Wrestling – Despite never being really athletic as a child and even now, something about wrestling stuck in my mind from the time I first saw the high school wrestling team practicing in the gym during off season from my swim meets. The body contact was of course incredibly intimate and the tight singlets were a major draw. As I’ve gotten older I’m more cautious with my wrestling, not wanting to suffer major injury, but I do like grappling every now and then to get the blood pumping to my heart and other…ahem…organs.
2. When did you fully realize your kinks?
Looking back it’s kind of difficult to pinpoint when exactly I came to realize I had kinks/fetishes. The entire process was kind of organic in that I began collecting spandex gear much longer before I realized I wanted to have sex in it. I think my first realization of my kinky mindset came just after I turned 18. I had been watching gay wrestling from BGEast, Chris Geary and Can-Am/Hard Heroes for a while already because I found those scenes much more interesting than any vanilla porn I saw.
I didn’t think they were kinks at first because I was jerking off to pretty much the same thing that other gay/bi guys were, the male forms, the body contact etc. It wasn’t until I chanced upon a superhero wrestling video that I realized there was more to my arousal than just seeing hunky guys have sex. That was when I began talking to guys who had very “specialized” interests in the superhero scenes and the wrestling. I was also more turned on by them wearing costumes and less turned on when the costumes were removed and they just had sex. The guys I met geared me towards wrestling chat and profile sites and eventually I made my way to gearfetish.com where I met my first self-described kinksters. Given the menu of choices that gearfetish.com had to offer in the way of kinks that’s when I realized what I enjoyed more and what I didn’t.
3. Was it difficult for you to meet people in the beginning?
Oh heck yeah! Not only was I generally shy and skittish in those early days but I also lived in a city that was pretty provincial in its sexual tastes. We had a pretty large gay community but a lot of the guys I met were “discreet” and barely able to talk about vanilla sex much less anything kinky. We had no leather bars to speak of and I was too poor to visit other kinky places. Some guys would blush when I would mention wrestling as foreplay. To be honest I also was pretty hesitant to reveal my kinks; I wasn’t necessarily ashamed of them but I was scared of losing friends or even family by revealing I got hard when I got tied up or pretended to be knocked out.
So needless to say my attempts at finding kinksters was mostly reserved for people driving through from larger cities like Phoenix, Los Angeles and Dallas. Most of my communication was with people I met online; I used to roleplay with them and discover scenes I would want to do in person if I ever got the chance. It still is pretty hard to meet people but thankfully I am older now and more able to afford travel as my recent trips to San Diego and Portland have shown. I am also less afraid of revealing my sexual tastes to guys I date; I wouldn’t want them to waste time with me if they can’t handle me being into kink.
4. Can you list some highlights of your lycra collection? Do you have a favorite outfit?
Oh wow that’s a tough question. The big highlights of my lycra collection have to be my superhero suits. Being able to own a superhero suit, whether it’s Robin or Nightwing or Spiderman, is a dream-come-true for me. When I lived alone, I loved coming home from my studying, opening the closet and seeing the suits hanging there, ready to be called into action at a moment’s notice. I had created superhero uniforms before from underarmor, tights and speedos before but that didn’t compare to owning a superhero suit from one of my favorite heroes. When I finally got my first suit I remember putting it on and immediately getting hard and tenting in it. I’ve done that with each and every superhero suit I have owned.
If I had to pick out a favorite suit I would say my Nightwing suit fits the bill. The fabric is amazingly soft and fits me in all the right places, especially when I am bound with my arms over my head. As many of my followers can attest.
We’ll be hearing more from TheSideKink next week. If he’s not gagged or tied up, that is. 🙂 Because I do ask him about some of his most memorable scenes. Don’t want to miss that!
